Riggs has grown quite a bit in the short time we've had him. In fact, he's been with us for about 4 1/2 weeks now. He's gained over 6 lbs in that time, and he is about to surpass Kate in weight. He's been a very good boy...with minimal accidents. He doesnt' go in his crate anymore at all, and he's gone two full nights-all night long-in his crate, not needing to go out. Good Boy, Riggs. He's also listening to "Kennel Up", although at times, Coltrane beats him to the punch...ahahah. They play really well together. Poor Riggs can't keep up...so he just lays in the grass, as if hiding, with his butt in the air...and waits patiently for Coltrane to come near, and then pounces on him! If size matters...Coltrane is going to be in for a rude awakening soon!

A fave of mine...
Look, we got a new dog...
So, this became a very fun game one spring afternoon. Katie kept trying to get Riggs into his carrying case/crate, but he refused. So-I told Katie to get in it-hoping she'd realize how it's not that fun to be locked up. Talk about your all time backfire...
One by one, each of the kids (except Gwen) would get in, and then proceed to get locked in and then carried (by me) to either Pete or Curt-and I would have to say (to the father of the new dog)..."Look (Pete/Curt), we got a new dog." Then the kids would giggle and it was the next one's turn. EVERYONE fit in this thing...I was quite impressed!
Is this the future Riggs?
Coltrane has been pretty curious about the whole crate thing. It's been quite a while since we've had it in the house-more than 3 years. But-lately he's been getting in it, especially when Pete or I say "Kennel up, Riggs." Too cute! Although-Riggs will be MUCH bigger than this! ahahah...
And, look how tiny Katie is! ahahaha

Meet Riggs...Our new addition
The girls were SUPER excited to pick up Riggs-even Katie. We drove all the way to Milan, Michigan to get the little guy. He has HUGE paws and is a brindle boxer-mastiff mix. The girls played peek-a-boo with him and chased him around the front yard. We got home around 10:30 and Riggs got to meet the MAN of the house-Coltrane out back. Coltrane has taken to Riggs very well. He's SO loveable and really thinks he's a lap dog. Seeing as he'll probably be over 100 pounds!
He's working very hard at potty training...and getting LOTS of praise from everyone. He follows Coltrane a lot, and definitely already has a fave family member! Wink, wink! (although it probably helped that I sat with him in the back of the car the whole trip home).

a perfect day
Have you ever had just a perfect day? I'm having one of those today. Lately I've been very stressed out with school, work, the girls, and friends. My semester at school ends tomorrow, and I decided to go down to just 2 classes each term-lighten the load a bit and enjoy my family more. Today the girls are playing together BEAUTIFULLY, I'm really cleaning the house, getting it ready for our new addition-Riggs, and the weather is gorgeous! I have the windows open to allow some fresh air and a nice breeze is flowing through the house.
Ahhhh...the perfect day...

They may be small, but they're BIG CUBS fans!!!
The girls are celebrating a rocky start to another CUBS season. Because Delaney is getting so big, we can no longer find the cheerleading outfits...Boooo!!! So-we got the girls jerseys this year (Kate will still be sporting the cheerleading look). They were SO excited when they got these! They couldn't wait to wear them!
