I have the most wonderful friends! Last night Peter took me to our friends' home and they had a surprise dinner celebration for me for finishing school. It's one of the most thoughtful things ever! We hung out for about an hour, just chit-chatting, enjoying beer (well, I didn't) and some very tasty cheese and crackers--GREAT appetizer! Ben and Nichole made an amazingly delicious meal...Asian flank steak, corn on the cob, and roasted potatoes. Matt and Donna brought some delicious wine, champagne, and an atomic cake. After dinner, Nichole opened up my special champagne--Sparkling Pear, which was delish, and I also indulged in a glass of Cooper's Hawk Almond champagne (which smells OH SOO GOOD). Peter loved it.
Nichole thought she was opening the "real" champagne, but it was the pear sparkling cidar. She was quite disappointed after she poured 3-4 glasses and Ben pointed out the mistake. She still enjoyed her glass before moving to the real stuff. I drank almost the whole bottle, I think.
Here is the table, all set up so pretty with Nichole and Ben's crystal, pretty floral centerpiece, linen napkins, and pretty plates. The food was served on fancy platters and tasted oh, so, good. I loved the steak. Very tender and, well, just perfect...well done, Ben!
