Pumpkin Carving

On Saturday we decided to carve two of our three large pumpkins.  Katie has been asking to carve them since we purchased them in September, so we had her put it on the calendar for Saturday, October 16, and she held us to that.  Each girl drew on a sheet of paper what they wanted their jack-o-lantern to look like, and then we went outside to carve.

Peter began with the top and Delaney and Katie screamed as he pulled it off, with the "guts" hanging from it.  Delaney completely refused to clean out either pumpkin.  Katie put her hand in twice and decided it was too disgusting.  Oh, and Delaney said she can't clean out a pumpkin because she's a princess and it's too gross.  I about died.  Too funny (although I hope that mindset doesn't last too long, or we'll have to have a chat with her)...she is definitely not the one I expected to hear that from.

Girls enjoyed watching Peter cut and carve and Rowena was trying SOOO hard to be a part of it all.  She had a little carver and continually tried to mimic Daddy cutting away.  The end products are fun.  Rowe's pumpkin in still in tack and probably will be so we have one non-rotting pumpkin for Thanksgiving.

Ahhhhhh!  Pumpkin Guts!
Rowe dug RIGHT in!  I loved it.  She was so into this whole thing.

See...proof that Kate got a little messy this year.
The goop and mess.  We obviously didn't plan for easy clean up very well.  The squirrels have liked the aftermath, and Riggs has gone nuts over them on our porch!
